As design director for the annual Smithsonian Festival, I supervised everything design related including booklets, brochures, exhibits, posters, informational signage, t-shirts, and anything else that the festival needed including a sign for a baby buffalo born during the festival. The festival is held outdoors on the National Mall for two weeks in late June, early July. It is visited by over 100,000 people each year.
Some of these are preliminary designs for waysides that will be installed in national parks and at historic sites. The final panels will be 3 or 4 feet wide. For some of the panels I created illustrations using Adobe Illustrator. Several of these illustrations can be seen on the illustrations page. For the Gateway National Recreation Area panel, I "colorized" a pen and ink illustration in Adobe Photoshop. The panels are created in Adobe InDesign.
